Classy car maker Aston Martin causes a splash by entering the world of luxury powerboats with the AM37.
The automotive brand has a long association with British film icon James Bond, so it will be interesting to see if 007 (himself no stranger to high-speed pursuits on water) gets behind the wheel of an Aston Martin AM37 in future films.
The license agreement for the new Aston Martin powerboat range gives Quintessence Yachts the capacity to design and build luxurious and high performance craft, in association with the world-renowned sports car maker, starting with the Aston Martin AM37.

Mariella Mengozzi, CEO of Quintessence, is confident the new 37-foot powerboat fully incorporates the style and elegance of the sports car brand. “Since the license agreement was signed, the Aston Martin Design department has been working seamlessly with the Quintessence R&D unit and naval architect Mulder Design in Amsterdam to achieve a true example of design purity,” she said.
The AM37, unveiled at Aston Martin’s global headquarters in Warwickshire, UK, will include a hi-tech composite structure with luxury sports car-like handling, performance and comfort.
One of the unique features is a sliding deck which allows owners to completely cover the cockpit of the boat. The innovative deck is made from three carbon panels and folds under the aft deck to uncover the cockpit. Once the cockpit is open, the aft deck slides back to allow access to the dock and let passengers dive into the water. The deck can also be raised to give access to the engine room, storage compartments and bimini top.
The boat will also integrate advanced technologies such as interactive voice control and activation, a fully HD-integrated touch screen with navigation and multimedia system, and remote controlled functions, including the ability to activate the air conditioning, fridge and espresso machine by remote while still at home or when driving down to
The user interface of the multimedia and entertainment system is installed in the 15-inch HD touchscreen on the dashboard, which guests can also use. Owners will have their own dedicated display for monitoring engine status and navigation.
At the unveiling, Katia Bassi, managing director of Aston Martin brands, said the new speed boat retains the company’s combination of contemporary designs and technological innovation and perfectly encapsulates Aston Martin’s ‘Art of Living’ philosophy.
The AM37 will be the first in a series of stunning new powerboats to carry the name and famous wings of the Aston Martin brand. It is due to make its debut at an official presentation this September.
