Stunning views of the Medieval fortress town across the bay
Since its transformation from a town to a resort in the 1950s, Sveti Stefan has maintained an ongoing love affair with celebrities. A-listers like Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor and Sylvester Stallone have strolled its cobbled alleys or sunbathed on the unique pink-sand beaches. Wimbledon tennis champion Novak Djokovic hired the entire islet in July 2014 to marry his girlfriend.
Luxury resort chain Aman runs Aman Sveti Stefan on the UNESCO-protected island together with Villa Milocer by the Milocer Beach on the mainland.
The 50-room island resort is prefect for couples seeking romance with a historic ambience. However, these rooms only receive guests from May to early October. No matter. Across the water, Villa Milocer opens all year around in an equally mesmerising setting. Surrounded by more than 800 olive trees, the elegant stone mansion was previously the summer residence of Maria, Queen of Yugoslavia and afterwards the revolutionary leader Josip Broz Tito.
Looking out to the islet from here, you get a magnificent view: a Medieval fortress town rising from the cliffs with its orange roofs forming a wave against the azure water.
Tivat Airport (ICAO: LYTV) is about 34 kilometres to the northwest of Sveti Stefan and is a 30-minute drive away. Aman offers complimentary transport to and from the airport for guests.
