Apple may well be enjoying record-breaking results but Samsung continues to make the smartest phones on the planet, now with added aesthetics. P1 dials in.

When it comes to global sales, Apple’s iPhone is the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. However, when it comes to the technology housed inside those sleek smartphones, perceived wisdom suggests other manufacturers pack a bigger punch.

Samsung is one brand that has always delivered on spec, and that is attracting a growing global army of ambassadors thanks to its sleeker handsets – including the new Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.

Let’s look at the Edge, as the spec for both are pretty much the same. What stands the Edge apart, however, is the glass screen with curved edges (see what they did there?). The practical benefits of this are minimal. Yes, you might enjoy reading the time while your phone is lying face down flat on the bedside table. However, you are more likely to feel the benefit, literally, when the Edge is in your hand.

Apple have been the masters at designing technology that looks and feels good, and offers an enhanced user experience and sexy interface. With the S6 Edge, Samsung seems to have done the same.

Now pay attention for the tech stuff. The Galaxy S6 and S6 edge both have enhanced front (5MP) and rear (16MP) cameras with Auto Real-time High Dynamic Range (HDR), Smart Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) and IR Detect White Balance – to provide advanced light sensitivities and crisp camera solutions. The new quick launch means you can access the camera from any screen in under a second by clicking the home button twice.

Samsung phones have always had good battery life, and these models boast universal wireless charging and superfast wired charging – up to four hours of usage from just 10 minutes of charge.

Both devices are packing the world’s first 14nm mobile processor with 64-bit platform – giving higher performance at lower power consumption. That curved 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED screen offers users the highest pixel density of 577ppi.

For the less technically minded, the S6 models come in white, black, gold, blue and green, with up to 128GB of storage. Plenty to think about for anyone looking for their next upgrade.
